Senior Portraits

Photography

A few weekends ago, I had my first senior portrait session. I was really nervous because I haven’t taken many pictures of people, and I wasn’t sure if they would turn out. But I think they worked out, and I’m really glad to have had the experience. It showed me that it’s good to get outside of your comfort zone and try something different. And the best part?…I got to play in Photoshop! Yea!

In the Style of…

Design, Photography

For my extended image class, we were supposed to research a photographer and then create artwork “in the style of” that photographer. I chose Barbara Kruger. She was inspirational to me because she is also a graphic designer and works with text and appropriation, which I have never done before. I had a lot of fun with it and am interested in exploring it further in the future.

My intent was to show the disparity between weath and poverty. The National Geographic photos were made to look like ads and the fashion ads were made to mimic National Geographic. Since I work in the printing industry, I made the page to look like a press sheet.

Digital Photo Assignment #2

Photography

For this assignment, we were supposed to combine photographs with text. I wanted to use my macro filters, so I took some close-up pictures. My series is about perceptions that people have about themselves, as well as perceptions that others have about them and how they are not always the same. It is also about how advertisements affect our perceptions.
